Every fortnight a newsletter is given to all of our families. Newsletters contain topical information relating to the school and the many activities that are taking place.
A Copy of our most recent newsletter is posted below with downloadable versions for earlier newsletters.

NEWSLETTER 20th January
There are still some children who continue to arrive after 8.50 a.m. each morning. As you know, from our recent correspondence all late arrivals are entered into the class registers. We urge you to deliver your children on time as a prompt start each morning is essential. If your child is ill or has a medical appointment, please telephone the school before 9.20 a.m. to speak to the Office or to leave a message on the answerphone. In addition please put in writing the explanation for your child’s absence on their return to school. Thank you.
‘Parking Promise’We have had an excellent response to the recent ‘Parents Parking Promise’. Thank you to those of you who have pledged to make our school as safe as possible by parking considerately. We will continue to monitor the situation carefully.
Parent/Teacher ConsultationsThis term we are holding parent/teacher consultations on three dates as follows:
Monday, 12th March 3.30-4.30pm
Monday, 19th March 3.30-4.30pm
Tuesday, 20th March 5.00-7.00pm
Please be reminded that this is an opportunity for you to talk with the class teacher without your child being present. If you do need to bring your child/children with you please ask them to wait on the chairs provided in the centre of the hall while you discuss their progress. Thank you. Appointment sheets will be available for your signature from Monday, 20th February 2011.
Parents of children in Rainbow and Yellow Classes
Now that your children have settled so well into the routine of school we would prefer you to wait on the school playground each morning rather than on the path. This should help to ease the congestion on the path and should also help the children to further integrate with the rest of the school. When the bell sounds at 8.50am please walk with your child to their classroom as usual.
Playground Equipment
There are still some children who are venturing onto the outdoor equipment before the bell rings at 8.50am. Please remind your child that they are only permitted to use the equipment during designated playtimes when they are supervised by members of staff.
Writing Workshop
This week your child will have been given a letter for you regarding a Writing Workshop. Please be good enough to return the tear off slip to indicate your attendance on 2nd February. Thank you.
Sign2Sing World Record Breaking Attempt
As you know, Mrs Walker has been running after school British Sign Language workshops and these have proved very popular and the children are progressing well. As a whole school we use some basic BSL signs regularly in assemblies and other group activities. Linked to our school involvement in BSL we have been invited to take part in a fund raising, charity world record breaking attempt to sing and sign simultaneously.
Our hope is that all the children and adults taking part will donate £1 each and all money raised will be sent to the charity “Sign Health”. A separate letter will follow very shortly.
Donations to School Fund
Thank you to all those families who have donated to our School Fund. We are very grateful.
PE Kit
Please make sure that your child has a PE kit in school at all times. Thank you.
Holiday Dates
Please note from the holiday dates for 2012 (see "Term dates and events") the additional INSET days on Monday, 16th April and Monday, 11th June 2012.
Listening to your child read
Many of our pupils are being well supported with their reading by family members after school hours and during weekends and holidays. However it is apparent that a good number are getting little or no additional support when they leave school each afternoon and they are and will continue to be at a real disadvantage. It is vitally important that you child is heard reading regularly at home – 5-10 minutes a day will work wonders!
By working in partnership, your children will grow to be confident readers who can extend their skills across the curriculum and beyond. Reading is for life.
Lost Property
We have acquired a lot of lost property. Mrs Walker has offered to display this near to the back door after school on Friday, weather permitting. Any belongings not claimed will be used as spare clothing or may need to be disposed of.
Medicines
May I remind you of the following guidance regarding Medicines in schools:
• All prescription medicine must be handed to school staff in their original containers; no fluids should be decanted into other bottles.
• All prescription medicines must be placed inside a named box (preferably plastic).
• No lip balm or hand gel should be brought into school. If it needs to be applied please do so before the start of the school day. If you wish you are most welcome to apply it on your child by returning with it later in the day.
Sponsored Sport Event
We plan to hold our annual sponsored sporting event on Wednesday, 29th February 2012. This is an annual event which we run in association with Hercules Sports. It is an ideal way for us to raise much needed money to fund the weekly sports coaching which takes place throughout the year. We will send you more details of this event in the very near future. Thank you.
