SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT

We do our best to continually review what we do for our children and the facilities we can make available for them. Our school has undergone a number of changes in the last few years, these include:

  • The conversion of the old dining room into a new library and teacher resource room
  • Installation of Interactive Whiteboards in the library and classrooms
  • Redecoration of the school hall, the corridors and classrooms
  • Large outdoor play equipment built outside the Early Years area.
  • Canopies to the side and rear of the school and the Early Years play area
  • Garden patio near the front entrance
  • Wooden play trains installed on the play area.
  • Wheelchair ramps installed at a number of entrances and a conversion of a toilet to a disabled facility
  • Conversion of the courtyard into a Maths area (2008)
  • Building of a new Children's Centre which opened in September 2008
  • All-weather surface to the side of the school (2009)
  • A gazebo to provide shade on hot days and also as a quiet supervised reading area (2009)
  • Replacement of all classroom sink areas and addition of cupboard space (2009)
  • Creation of an equipped play area with "stepping stones" and other equipment to help with balance and co-ordination. Ground is painted as land and sea and the only limitation for pirate games and desert island games is imagination alone (2010)
  • All-weather surface and fenced area between school and playing field (2010)
  • Aylesbury-in-bloom area for growing plants between the school and Children's Centre (2010)
  • Upgrade of computing and technical equipment (2010)
  • Canopy outside Rainbow classroom which can act as a study area; installation of blackboard at low level to enable the children to express their writing and artistic skills.
  • Creation of one classroom from two to create a new Yellow classroom for Reception / Early Years children. This also enables use of the fenced outdoor areas immediately outside this new room as an extra facility. The two affected classrooms relocated to the rooms previously occupied by Yellow class. (New arrangements in use from September 2010)
  • Projector and large screen in hall for a variety of uses including video links to other schools (spring 2011)
  • New electronic whiteboards in the two reception classes (Rainbow and Yellow) (summer 2011)
